Two Garden Questions
1) Back in March, my dad helped me bury compost in a long trench down the center of our raised bed. Then this popped up. I feel like it looks like an actual vegetable, maybe from seeds in the compost? Does anyone know what it is? Maybe squash or a cucumber?
2) How do you know when garlic is ready to harvest? Do you wait until the plant flowers? I have no idea. We planted this way back in October, and the stalks are pretty big, but every time I dig one up the actual bulb only has one or two cloves on it. We had planned on planting corn and edamame in the raised bed, because I assumed we would be harvesting the garlic in the spring, but it's certainly taking its sweet time.

OK, I was going to say squash! squash! squash! for sure, but then your comment reminded me of the fact my cucumber plants have started to look very squash-y in the past week. So much so that I had to double check my garden map.
ReplyDeleteAs for the second, I already f-ed up my garlic by harvesting it too early. And it was moldly.
Boy am I helpful!
