  2. Mine are:

A New Kind of Country, by Dorothy Gilman: fantastic: she moves, on her own, to a farmhouse in Nova Scotia.

Journal of a Solitude, by May Sarton. I also like her books "The House by the Sea," and "Plant Dreaming Deep"

A Thousand Days in Venice, by Marlena de Blasi. Following this book are two others that are good too.

    The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho

A Country Year, by Sue Hubbell
